Kyle, David and I went through over 30 ideas for the name of this product. The name had to illustrate the benevolence of the project, deliver the feeling it is a marketplace but does not emphasize $$$. Encouraged donation.

Other name alternatives: (* = some of my favorites)

After every political campaign I would be burdened with what to do with all the equipment acquired during the road to election. Interesting, when barely a year prior I would be tasked with the sometimes tedious tasks of acquiring business grade equipment at aggressively low prices. This is a fundamental problems political campaign manager’s face. After going through the process with a few campaigns, Noble set out to build an online tool that bridges campaigns liquidating surplus assets and campaigns that need donated or affordable, useable equipment. The idea was to do this while encouraging in-kinds (“donations”) of equipment needed by campaigns; thus not only providing a solution to a problem but helping out our communities and reducing pollution.

In order to make sure this thing really has legs I had to massage this concept into as many conversations as possible. I posed this question to domain experts in the fields of Technology, Business, Funding and most importantly Political Campaigns. I bounced the idea off friends, colleagues and family; but where some of these people couldn’t give critical insight other had a bit of expertise in the political market.

As the project lulls along, I continue to stress test this political campaign marketplace idea, finding flaws, adjusting for weaknesses, and tooling the proposed product into a company that will sell, and a product that customers will pay money for.
